US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced a trade agreement with China following negotiations involving top economic officials from both nations. The discussions, which included US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and two unnamed Chinese vice ministers, concluded without immediate disclosure of terms. Bessent confirmed President Donald TRUMP was briefed throughout the process and is "fully aware" of the agreement.
Greer characterized the deal as a collaborative effort with Chinese partners, asserting it will address the $1.2 trillion US global goods trade deficit. Remarkably, key sticking points were resolved faster than anticipated, suggesting the perceived differences between the two economic powerhouses may have been overstated.
